I've been hearing of a lot of people searching for the jobs lately. I wanted to send a reminder that the Phila Culture Job Bank is a great resource for creative job hunting. I've compiled a few opportunities that are coming up including some grants as well, hopefully it can help connect some of yous. JOBS Main Line Art Center is looking for painting instructors for adults. They specified for acrylic and/or abstract painting. PAFA is looking for an Art Education Manager, sounds like it works a lot with kids and they'd prefer someone Spanish speaking. People's Light is hiring a props manager, located in Chester County but seems like a fun job for someone who likes to create The Barnes Foundation is looking for a Membership Coordinator, sounds super computer heavy but working for a great museum OPPORTUNITIES Stick Ball Philly is hosting a Tiny Chair show with the deadline of May 20th, chairs can be made out of anything EXCEPT clay Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale NY has a book arts residency deadline coming up on July 15. Grant includes monthly stipend, materials budget, travel costs covered & free on site housing Wayne Art Center has an open call for Craft Forms with a deadline this September, it's $50 to apply but says you can have up to 6 samples, hopefully not $50 per entry... Thats all for now, Good Luck out there yous guys!

NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS. That’s how long it took for someone to steal this sign from my Old City studio. As a small business owner who runs my studio for the benefit of the community and FREQUENTLY runs events without profit goals-because sometimes creativity can be inaccessible- I’m pretty pissed y’all. This disgrace, the @blackhoundclay supply library bin being damaged, and the brutal destruction of the @philadelphiadrunkenknitwits yarn display with pieces made by my very good friend and creative colleague @knottynursern … We should be embarrassed of what we’re doing to the arts in this city. So here I am asking for any help that you may want to offer to help replace this flag. I’m having another custom flag made by @humphrysflag the local Olde City flag maker, and I would appreciate any help to offset the costs of buying another flag, and the security upgrades I’ll have to add to ensure this one doesn’t get taken as well. If you’ve got $3-5 or more to spare, please send it towards my flag fund through Venmo: @cassie-jones-19 or PayPal: PayPal.me/craftcassie I appreciate y’all, and regardless I’m looking forward to a Creative Craft Summer ahead of us; because lack of funds hasn’t ever stopped us before 🌈

Tomorrow, this Friday April 25th come join me for some snacks, drinks, and bid on the work of local artists. Money raised will go towards our local Passyunk Square Association, and directly profit the artists who have donated their work to fill this event. I'll have some ceramic mugs out for bid, and am looking forward to hopefully winning something special myself. So come by, you can buy me a beer and know your money is going to a good cause. And so is the beer :-D https://www.passyunksquare.org/psca-art-auction

Newly announced class upcoming this May. These things are super cool and my mom has been making them for years. They are pretty big when they're finished, can live outside through the summer and warm months, then inside in a bathroom or humid spot during the colder months. This class is going to be at Cherry Street Pier in the garden area, and I may even be able to get everyone a free drink ticket if we fill the class! https://www.ticketspotapp.com/e/uxk0x

Ok y'all, I'm trying to post up all the photos that I've take at events these last few months. This first batch was from an evening of bookmaking hosted at Upstairs at Abyssinia (https://www.instagram.com/upstairsabyss?igsh=YzVkODRmOTdmMw==) in West Philly on November 15th. We have a monthly event there each third Wednesday. We'll be running another book making workshop just like this one on January 21st (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/upcycled-handmade-books-tickets-789805829497?aff=ebdsoporgprofile)at Cherry Street Poer alongside a Coven showcase of work by Jamie DeAngelis Mixed Media Mayhem.(https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mixed-media-mayem-tickets-774027014637?aff=ebdsshcopyurl&utm-campaign=s) I hope to see you out for book making!

I stopped by the Supply Library on 50th Street in West Philly by Black Hound Clay studio and BOY IS IT FULL! Posting some photos below so you can see the types and colors in there. Lots of wools, some acrylics, a lot not labeled. There seems to be some hand dyes stuff in here- really high quality fibers! I would go check it out if you're looking for yarn because that's all there is in there today :-D I also like this lil' shroomy hidin' in here.

This past Sunday we had the please of hosting Pamela Jones from Quakertown, PA to teach us her stained glass projects. She gave everyone the choice of 3 different designs and everyone built their stained glass pieces from glass sheets all the way to oxidizing the finished work. The basics of building included choosing the glass colors, cutting the glass down to size, wrapping each piece with copper foil, burnishing the copper foil at every edge, applying flux to joins, soldering joints on both sides, applying a metal border and soldering the corners in place. WHEW! This turned into more like a 6 hour project for some of us but we all made it through and I'm so proud of everyone's results!

Check out what's good in the library today! Everything shown with the bin is what was still there as of 12:00 today. The other bags are what I put together to take to a local daycare center. Lots of brand new kids craft supplies, some scrap fabrics that have been hanging out for a while, mickey iron on transfers in a manilla bubble envelope, a bag of trims, whole buncha staples, a brand new sewing kit, 3 ring binder, composition book, a vinyl table cloth and a handful of other random bits. Stop by and check it out! I've also been trying to push any bags down underneath the shelf inside the bin. So you can reach down below to find a bag to take home your new treasures!
