Ok y'all, I'm trying to post up all the photos that I've take at events these last few months. This first batch was from an evening of bookmaking hosted at Upstairs at Abyssinia (https://www.instagram.com/upstairsabyss?igsh=YzVkODRmOTdmMw==) in West Philly on November 15th. We have a monthly event there each third Wednesday. We'll be running another book making workshop just like this one on January 21st (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/upcycled-handmade-books-tickets-789805829497?aff=ebdsoporgprofile)at Cherry Street Poer alongside a Coven showcase of work by Jamie DeAngelis Mixed Media Mayhem.(https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mixed-media-mayem-tickets-774027014637?aff=ebdsshcopyurl&utm-campaign=s) I hope to see you out for book making!

Valentines Day pop up and 2024 Bell Works pre season winter market applications are now open: https://www.asburyfresh.com/?mc_cid=005d20a4e5&mc_eid=df91e152a9(https://www.asburyfresh.com/?mc_cid=005d20a4e5&mc_eid=df91e152a9) The regular bell works events are essentially like a (indoor?) weekly farmers market that's pretty well attended. Of course keep in mind that depending on what you make it may not be the best item for a farmers market. The valentines pop up seems great for a lot of vendors!

Clover market announced they opened applications for Spring vendors. Clover markets are super successful for the right maker, no application fee, and doesn't accept many people. They do a decent job at choosing vendors that will have success at their events but also can be a little too choosey. Apply at your own risk! https://theclovermarket.com/apps/faqs?mc_cid=c896a9ce88&mc_eid=9d81aae268(https://theclovermarket.com/apps/faqs?mc_cid=c896a9ce88&mc_eid=9d81aae268)

I haven't worked with this site personally but it was passed along to me and seems to be a good resourse for many types of artists. They have listed residencies, calls for art, and allow organizations to list their own opporrtunities. Anyone else ever use this site? https://artistcommunities.org/(https://artistcommunities.org/)

I stopped by the Supply Library on 50th Street in West Philly by Black Hound Clay studio and BOY IS IT FULL! Posting some photos below so you can see the types and colors in there. Lots of wools, some acrylics, a lot not labeled. There seems to be some hand dyes stuff in here- really high quality fibers! I would go check it out if you're looking for yarn because that's all there is in there today :-D I also like this lil' shroomy hidin' in here.

This past Sunday we had the please of hosting Pamela Jones from Quakertown, PA to teach us her stained glass projects. She gave everyone the choice of 3 different designs and everyone built their stained glass pieces from glass sheets all the way to oxidizing the finished work. The basics of building included choosing the glass colors, cutting the glass down to size, wrapping each piece with copper foil, burnishing the copper foil at every edge, applying flux to joins, soldering joints on both sides, applying a metal border and soldering the corners in place. WHEW! This turned into more like a 6 hour project for some of us but we all made it through and I'm so proud of everyone's results!

Check out what's good in the library today! Everything shown with the bin is what was still there as of 12:00 today. The other bags are what I put together to take to a local daycare center. Lots of brand new kids craft supplies, some scrap fabrics that have been hanging out for a while, mickey iron on transfers in a manilla bubble envelope, a bag of trims, whole buncha staples, a brand new sewing kit, 3 ring binder, composition book, a vinyl table cloth and a handful of other random bits. Stop by and check it out! I've also been trying to push any bags down underneath the shelf inside the bin. So you can reach down below to find a bag to take home your new treasures!

Come by Black Hound Clay today and there will be a plethora of FREE ceramic ware up for grabs. Cups, Dishes, Luminaries- all clay and free to a good home! Also stop at the Supply Library to see what's ready for the taking. Check out these things that are in the box right now: plaster strips, mickey mouse iron ons, spirit gum, fluffy yarn with a half finished hat project, a bag full of ric rac and binding, a cozy crochet kit, graphite blenders, a notebook, and so much more! Lastly, I'm posting a video of how you can latch the box open while you're riffling. So please take the time to latch the door and reorganize the box after you take/leave items. Thanks all, happy crafting :-D

Happening monthly on the first Thursday of every month is the South Philly Drink and Draw at Newbold Exchange. Sponsored by Philadelphia Brewing, we have 2 cases of beer to distribute to the group while supplies last. And the main attraction will be a nude model posing with short warm ups from 1-5 minutes, and building up to a few longer 10-15 minutes poses, with a 15 minute break halfway through the evening. Bring your own medium of choice, but the venue is best suited for dry or digital mediums. We will have a handful of basic paper and pencils available for anyone to use. There are some spots with table space available first come first serve, a clipboard is not a bad idea. Most of the seating is stadium style deep bench seating with lots of pillows. Real casual setting. We may even have a new light setup for this one so look forward to some high contrast visuals! I hope to see some of yous there, be sure to register online if you know you want a spot.

I've been visiting the Supply Library at 713 s 50th street and noticing that there is a lot of turnaround! Everything seems to move within 3 days +- of getting dropped in the Library and it's very frequently full. I would say though that larger pieces of fabric arent getting taken as much, and they really clog up the box. So I would suggest only dropping remnants of fabric, or posting in the group when you're leaving larger bits of yardage. Thanks as always for following 🌈 And now here's an inventory of what's going on in the Library today. I also dropped some more weaving kits to make a tree ornament with supplies and instructions --yay--

The very first Supply Library has been installed now for 3 weeks and it is ALWAYS FULL! There has been a lot of turnaround of items so things don't tend to stay in there for long, but there is always something to be had in the Library. The variety and high quality of donations is impressive, and I have a feeling the booth will only grow in popularity with time. So I'm here reminding you all to send your creative friends, relatives and neighbors our way to come take things home! I'd love to keep adding to the donations but the booth is often already full when I arrive. Not the worst thing in the world, since I of course love craft supplies! Yesterday I took home an unused pack of red Model Magic and a notepad of scratch art activities- both perfect stocking stuffers for my cheap ass :-p Check out a few of these gems I saw in the box today:

Check this map to give you an idea for our future box location plans. None of these locations are set in stone (aside from the already installed first Library!), and this map is just meant to give an idea of placement. We have many storefronts and community locations interested in hosting a Library and are currently raising funds to make them all happen :-D

The first of our once monthly events with Upstairs at Abyssinia we'll be hosting a Paper Marbling workshop for the month of January! Look forward to a different craft every 3rd Sunday of the month at 229 South 45th Street on the second floor. The Event Specifics: Cassie Jones (me, I'm Cassie!) will be bringing all necessary supplies to create some fun marbling patterns in all sorts of colors onto paper. The inks we are using will not hold colorfast onto fabric for washing so paper only is best. Feel free to bring your own paper, keeping in mind that we may have to cut your paper down to size for our workspace. It is free to participate while supplies last with a suggestion donation of $10 per person. Each person should be able to complete 3-5 pieces of paper and we will have colored pencils and markers to continue decorating your paper pieces. I encourage you to bring whatever additional tools and supplies that you'd like to use and share with the group! If you would like to guarantee a space for yourself you can donate $10 ahead of time HERE The Space Specifics: Abyssinia is an Ethiopian restaurant on the first floor, and a small venue (I say venue, think more row-home livingroom) and a fully stocked cash only bar on the second floor (I say fully stocked, I mean a generous cocktail list with fun combos for ~$14 each and a can/bottled beer selection that you don't find often). Enter at 229 South 50th Street, continue directly up the stairs to the second floor, turn right for the bar, far left for the craft coven event, and find a couple bathroom doors between the two.

Bring the whole family out to an afternoon of making, eating, and exploring with the Philly Mycology Club and The Craft Coven! This event will be held in Isaiah Zagar's private studio: two floors of mirrors, ceramics, and tile mosaics for your viewing pleasure. **Isaiah will not be present at this event** There will be cookies to decorate, mushroom themed crafting, a build your own button name-tag station, collaging holiday cards and a great group of people. We are also hosting a White Elephant gift exchange for anyone interested. Gifts should be valued no higher than $20 (low cost and handmade items are A-ok!) Potluck style food, snacks and drinks so bring whatever you'd like to share. There is a fridge and full kitchen so we can both heat and chill things There is no cost to attend but we will be collecting donations to go towards crafting supplies: Venmo: @Cassie-Jones-19 Paypal:https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/craftcassie **Because this is still an active studio we ask that you respect the space and look but don't touch in progress items around the studio. Isaiah will not be present at this event**

Here are some images and the super quick video of my digital drawings from this last South Philly Drink and Draw at Newbold Exchange. I’m a big fan of ProCreate for the iPad along with an Apple Pencil. It gives me the opportunity to continue working my quick sketches and switch between colors for every sketch. I didn’t get as much contrast or variation in these examples but I’m still happy with the few I was able to develop a bit.

I went to my first life drawing event in years! It was also the first event since I've been skilled with digital drawing, so I decided to use only my tablet for the evening. The event was sponsored by The Philadelphia Brewing Company who handed over 2 cases of beer for us to share with the group. My new partner in planning Frank and I made a great team organizing the events for the evening and I look forward to putting together another. Penny was super ambitious in all of her poses and really made for some epic drawings from everyone. We are hopefully sticking through with the first Thursday of each month if we can get our numbers in order and loved the Newbold Exchange as our host. I would consider these to be Works in Progress still but I like where they are headed for 5-10 minute pose sketches!
