Craft Coven Soft-Opening Weekend

What a weekend! These two days were jam packed with crafts, mushrooms, printing, collages, cocktails, and lots of faces- new and old! Saturday at the Cherry Street Pier Space hosted a mushroom themed crafting workshop co-organized with The Philadelphia Mycology Club. We got to check out some parasitized bugs collected from their morning's foray, and watched a slideshow of fungal images put together by the group. After the mushroom crafting, I cleared the space and setup for a limited group Printmaking Class. In the 2 hour session each person drew up and carved their own design into blocks, and printed using a press or hand pressed barens onto cotton paper. Some of us even printed our own felt flags! With less than a 24 hour break until the next craft event I spent most of Sunday afternoon thinking about the upcoming workshops already on the calendar. Specifically what I'm most excited for- Stained Glass! But then back to Sunday night with Upstairs at Abyssinia for open crafting with new friends and drinks. With the first month of Craft Coven events on it's way, I'm looking forward to what all is set to come for the group. Later this month on February 26th at 4pm we are holding our 7 YEAR (WHAT?!) anniversary event in West Philly at the Sankofa house. RSVP for that free (donation based) event HERE for all the specifics on joining us and showing your support for the group.
