Pillow Patches
Pillow patches are a personal project that Cassie began in 2020 after purchasing her first chainstitch machine. Making one off embellishment pieces using a punch needle spurred interest in the look created by a chainstitch machine. Making everything look like a little miniature carpet, Cassie appreciates the depth created by using the machine in moss stitch mode.
Pillow patches are made by printing drawings and designs onto fabric through an altered home printer. These fabric prints are then layered with cotton and a heavy felt backing before stitching with the chain stitch machine. The excess is then delicately clipping back around the colorful designs.
Pickle people pieces start as watercolor, ink and pen drawings that are scanned into a computer then printed onto fabric. Most other designs are drawn using an apple pencil and a digital tablet that are then printed on cotton.
