STITCH AND DESTROY & The Craft Coven present: Garbage Patch

We are searching for works focused on the theme of: Reduce - Reuse - Recycle. Think sustainability, eco-friendly, waste reduction , reclaimed, repurposed, rescued, up-cycled, reimagined, reconstructed, transformed.

PARAMETERS :

We're looking for a mix of small and large pieces so feel free to submit multiple works of varying sizes. We have space for 2 or more pieces that are over 3 feet wide. We are exclusively looking for wall hanging works for this show, so unfortunately no sculptures unless they can be hung on a wall.

Works will be on display at the STITCH AND DESTROY retail / studio space at 523 South 4th Street, just off South Street.

Exhibition will run from the end of October through the beginning of January with an opening reception on October 24th from 5-8pm. All artists are expected to be present for the opening reception.

The opening reception will offer complimentary snacks, drinks, button making station, and more fun stuff that we haven't even thought of yet!

STITCH AND DESTROY is taking part in Philadelphia Open Studio Tours, and listing this event along with POST.

We're hoping this extended show schedule will give ample opportunities for sales and artist exposure, with opportunities to sell prints of your pieces as well as the original piece.

Artist prices will be doubled for retail, with a 50/50 split between the artist and the organizers. Give us the price you need for your work, and we will add our costs on top of that.

Works can be NFS if you prefers.

We will be promoting the exhibition as well as offering artist spotlights for each featured artist.

There is no entry fee to apply, but there will be a $20 hanging fee for accepted artists to cover costs of our opening reception. This hanging fee will be waived for any Craft Coven supporting members (paid membership program to support The Coven's goal of low and no-cost programming and creative events in Philly)

More info will be sent out to artists whose work is accepted within the theme and the size constraints of the space. We will be closing this application on September 19th, and notifying those accepted by September 26th.
